A GUISELEY care home has been classed as good by the Care Quality Commission.

Staff at Anchor’s Extra Care – The Laureates, in Shakespeare Road were celebrating this week after receiving the accolade.

The home, which cares for 22 residents, was praised by the CQC in the first wave of robust inspections announced in October 2014.

Care providers are now classed as either outstanding, good, requiring improvement or inadequate.

Registered Care Manager Julie Skelton said everyone at the Laureates was thrilled because they had worked so hard to maintain high standards of care.

She said: "We all know The Laureates is a great care service but to be given such praise from the regulator is outstanding. We are proud of the care we provide.

"Anchor has informed the Government’s dementia strategy so we also know how to care for people living with the condition so they lead as fulfilling a life as possible.

"We welcome such rigorous inspections and clear ratings so older people and their families can see which care services are the best in the country. We’re so pleased to be classed as a good care service."

The CQC inspection report on The Laureates, which can be found on the regulator’s website, says: "People received care which was personalised and responsive to their needs. People were allocated staff who worked with them to help ensure their preferences and wishes were identified and their involvement in the support planning process was continuous."
