A woman who died of stab wounds at a house in Rawdon was today named by police as Pauline Butler.
A post-mortem examination has determined the 61-year-old died from blood loss having sustained “a number of stab wounds”.
Ms Butler was found on Monday morning at a house on Cherry Lea Court.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Snow, of Protective Services Crime, said: “A 65-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody as inquiries into the death of a woman at an address on Cherry Lea Court, Rawdon, continue.
“A forensic post-mortem was carried out this morning which established that the woman, who has been identified as Pauline Butler, 61, died of blood loss having sustained a number of stab wounds.
“The family of Miss Butler have released a photograph of her.”
