8:00am Monday 15th October 2012 in Bradford
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance
Yorkshire Air Ambulance will move from its base at Leeds-Bradford International Airport to a new site in Wakefield.
The charity, which will keep its second base at RAF Topcliffe, near Thirsk, has been granted planning permission by Wakefield Council to build a new airbase at Nostell Priory Roses Building, within the Nostell Estate.
It is expected to move from the Yeadon airport and begin operating from its new base next summer.
A spokesman said: “The new site will provide a dedicated airbase for one of the two Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopters and include hangar space, office facilities, and accommodation for aircrew.
“The helicopter will be relocated from its existing base at Leeds-Bradford International Airport while the second air ambulance continues to operate from its base at RAF Topcliffe in North Yorkshire.”
