Organisers of Wrose Carnival anticipate next weekend’s event will be the biggest and best yet.

The festival at Wrose Recreation Ground on July 7 and 8 – held across two days for the first time – will include music and dance performances, displays by community groups and stalls.

Groups confirmed for the event, in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and local charities, include Bradford girl band The Bon Bonz, the Cellar Rats, Bradford Zumba Belles, Clairemarie's School of Dance and Drama and the West Yorkshire Police dog display team.

Idle-based stage school Stage 84 will perform an Olympic-themed musical and there will be a question and answer session with TV’s Make Bradford British stars Rashid Mahmood Khan and Damon Scully.

There will also be food stalls, craft stalls, a beer tent, face-painting, tug of war and a vintage car show.

A Yorkshire Air Ambulance is due to land at the recreation ground and visitors will have the chance to meet the pilot and medical staff. Children’s entertainment will include bouncy castles, slides, fairground and train rides.

A carnival parade along Wrose Road will start at 11am on the Saturday.

Tony Constable, vice-president of the organising committee, which is made up of eight volunteers, said: “All the money raised will go towards the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and other local charities that work in the community. The whole event is family-orientated and there will be plenty to do without needing to spend money, other than the entrance fee.”
