Two secondary schools in Bradford and one in Pudsey are forging links with three schools in Jordan to learn more about life in the Middle Eastern country.
Challenge College, Carlton Bolling College and Crawshaw School are taking part in the British Council’s Connecting Classrooms programme, which aims to develop understanding and trust between young people from different parts of the world.
Teachers from the Bradford schools along with staff from the International Pioneers Academy, the Al Yamama School and Al Masri Primary School in Jordan have visited Crawshaw to develop joint projects designed to broaden the horizons of both pupils and teachers.
During the visit, pupils received a lesson on basic Arabic words and phrases from the Jordanian teachers and also took part in a general knowledge quiz about the country.
Headteacher Joanna Ruse said: “The partnership with our three Jordanian schools will benefit all staff and students and will not only give us an opportunity to learn about life in Jordan, it will also allow us to learn more about our own communities.”
