A young mother caught growing 15 large cannabis plants to harvest to buy Class A drugs has been locked up after telling a judge she did not want a community order.
Heather Waterland, 23, of Shirley Avenue, Wyke, pleaded guilty to production of cannabis at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.
Her solicitor advocate, Tom Rushbrooke, said she had given up her home and handed over care of her child in readiness for prison.
The court was told she was growing the cannabis plants, with an £8,000 street value, to sell to pay for crack cocaine.
Judge John Potter said he did not want to sentence Waterland, who had no previous convictions, to jail. He remanded her in custody to a date to be fixed to be assessed for a Drug Rehabilitation Requirement.
