The district’s largest social landlord, Incommunities, has started a recruitment drive to find five talented apprentices.

It coincides with the start of National Apprenticeship Week which will see the housing group actively involved in local and national events.

The trainee vacancies cover electrical, gas plumbing and joinery skills and are open to anyone aged 16 and over who is looking to build a construction career.

The recruitment process will include tests and interviews with the successful candidates starting in August.

Incommunities offers a structured training programme which combines college-based learning with on-the-job training working alongside Incommunities’ experienced trades people. They will also attend college to work towards NVQ construction qualifications in their chosen trade.

Delroy Beverley, director of Incommunities – Propertysolutions, is responsible for managing the group’s apprenticeship programme. He said: “We are committed to investing in a diverse and highly-skilled workforce and encouraging all our apprentices – from school leavers to people looking to take a new career path – to fulfil their potential.

“We are particularly keen to hear from people from across all communities, including women, looking to build life changing careers. In return we offer a rewarding training programme which leads to a minimum NVQ level 3 trade qualifications.

“If you think you have the ‘A’ factor to join one of the top 100 apprentice employers then get in touch now and make your move into an exciting new career.”

Incommunities regularly employs apprentices and in June last year was recognised in the first Top 100 list of Apprenticeship Employers.

Six construction apprentices started working with the housing group in September, taking the number of modern construction apprentices with Incommunities to 31.
