A Bradford policemen won a top award for saving three people from a burning house and said – “I was just doing my job”.

Police Constable Aaron Horsfall entered the blazing house in Leeds Road, Bradford Moor, twice to rescue three men who were asleep inside, in the early hours of Saturday, August 27.

After spotting a fierce car blaze spreading to the building while on patrol, he went into a first-floor bedroom and, finding two men asleep, led them to safety.

The men told him a disabled person was sleeping upstairs and in a “selfless action”, PC Horsfall ran back in and rescued him.

The officer was then taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary suffering from smoke inhalation.

He has now received a Chief Constable’s Commendation for his bravery.
