People are encouraged to have a brew with friends, family or colleagues during March to raise money to help people touched by cancer.
Next month is Cancer Support Bradford & Airedale’s annual Big Brew.
The first event was held in 2009 and it has grown into a hugely successful fundraiser, for the local charity which next year celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Cancer Support Bradford & Airedale is an independent charity that provides face-to-face practical, social and emotional help and support to over 3,500 people every year.
With over 70 volunteers including drivers, counsellors, and therapists, all services are free to cancer patients, carers, families and bereaved people.
Last year the community held a variety of coffee mornings, afternoon teas and cakes stalls in the home, at work or local centres raising an amazing £6,800.
The money provided 266 free support services such as counselling, complementary therapies and supporting group sessions helping to improve the well-being of cancer patients and carers.
This year the charity is hoping to raise £10,000 to support these vital well-being services, which have recently had all statutory funding cut.
Community fundraiser Linda Enderby said: “This is an event that everyone can get involved in and we particularly would like to increase the support of local companies and their employees.
“It’s so easy. One of our ‘Friends of Fundraising’ Vicky and her colleagues will add their support on Friday, March 30, by wearing something yellow and making a donation at their Banana Big Brew day.
“Dressing up is of course optional but great fun!
“Everyone enjoys a cuppa, especially at work to lift our spirits and energise us.
“All proceeds from Big Brew events will help to raise the spirits of people in our community whose lives are affected by cancer.”
