Visitors to hospitals in Bradford are being asked to follow precautions to prevent the spread of diarrhoea and vomiting.
A spokesman for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said currently one ward was affected with diarrhoea and vomiting.
She said: “Measures to combat this infection have been reinforced internally, such as enhanced cleaning, but externally we would urge all visitors to the hospital to help us in preventing the spread to this illness further by following these simple precautions. Anyone suffering from vomiting or diarrhoea should stay away from visiting the hospital until 48 hours after the end of these symptoms.
“Visitors should also remember to wash their hands thoroughly and to use the alcohol gel provided at ward and department entrances throughout their visits.
“Over the festive period, we would like to remind patients that our Accident and Emergency department is for people with serious injuries or serious illness requiring immediate treatment.”
A spokesman for Airedale Hospital near Steeton said no wards were currently affected by norovirus.
