A group of friends are gearing up to go from ‘Home 2 Rome’ to raise money for two charities close to their hearts.
Andy Kenny, Andy Lowe, Phil Spencer and Dave Downes – all big Yorkshire lads – make up the team ‘80 Stone to Rome’.
They have entered the Home 2 Rome banger rally, which will see them driving from Calais to Rome in five days – in Toyota Previa bought for just £249.
To make the event even more challenging, the teams will each day be issued with a quirky assignment which must be completed.
They have set themselves a fundraising target of £6,000 which will benefit the Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK and the special care baby unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Andy Kenny, 47, of Wibsey, said: “My six-year-old son Connor has idiopathic pulmonary hypertension. Every year I do something to raise money for the charity PHA UK, which supports the families and people that have this disease. It is a great charity which keeps everyone together.
“Andy Lowe’s grandson, four-year-old Kohl Longthorn, was born severely premature at 25 weeks and is battling numerous ongoing conditions."
To donate to the team, visit justgiving.com/ andykenny-andylowe or text ROME80 (followed by the amount you wish to donate) to 70070.
