The horrific crimes committed by self-styled Crossbow Cannibal Stephen Griffiths have been detailed in a new book.

Journalist Cyril Dixon followed the case of the 40-year-old triple murderer and interviewed former acquaintances of Griffiths after his arrest for killing three prostitutes working in Bradford’s red light area.

Griffiths was given a life sentence at Bradford Crown Court for slaying sex worker Suzanne Blamires in the corridor outside his flat at Holmfield Court, Thornton Road, last May.

Griffiths later admitted the murder of sex workers Shelley Armitage, 31, and 43-year-old Susan Rushworth and was given two more life sentences for what judge Mr Justice Openshaw described as his “wicked and monstrous” crimes.

Now Mr Dixon, a 47-year-old national newspaper reporter has penned his first book, The Crossbow Cannibal: The Definitive Story of Stephen Griffiths.

He said: “I was commissioned to write the book as soon as the story broke in the first few days of June last year.

“What I have tried to do is give a much more panoramic view, trying to re-tell the whole thing, going back to the house where he was born.

“I’ve spoken to his neighbours and people who knew him to give depth to those involved, including the three women he killed.”
