Bradford singing star is busy doing other things for now, but it’s strictly no dancing

Singer Kimberley Walsh has vowed that her band Girls Aloud will be back – even as she forges a new career as a TV presenter.

Kimberley, 28, who is from Sandy Lane, shot to fame when she was plucked from obscurity to be one of the five-strong Girls Aloud band put together by Simon Cowell’s Popstars: The Rivals TV show.

For the past year the band has been quiet with the members pursuing solo projects. But Kimberley has said that Girls Aloud fans can expect some news in 2011.

She said: “We will be back at some point.

“We don’t know exactly when that will be as everyone’s solo projects have taken off more than we anticipated and people are enjoying doing their own things.

“But there are plans for the future even though we don’t know exactly when that will be. Next year we’ll get together and make some plans. The truth is we’ve never planned that far ahead so when the time’s right, the time’s right.”

In the meantime, though Kimberley can be seen fronting the Suck My Pop music show on Friday on digital channel Viva.

She said: “I was really excited. Obviously, I’ve done a little bit of presenting already, but I’ve never had my own show before so it’s quite exciting to be in control a bit more and be able to get involved in the whole process.

“We’re trying to get away from the generic, sit-down, interview-type show, so we’re trying to go out and do something with the artists or play a game that’s going to be fun for them.”

Kimberley has already appeared on several TV shows, including covering film awards the BAFTAS and appearing on a documentary about her ambition to sing in a West End musical. But she said there’s one TV show that she won’t be appearing on, despite the rumours – Strictly Come Dancing: “I don’t think it’s the right thing for me to do right now. Maybe it would be at some point.”

Another reality 'star' heading for the scrapheap, clutching at straws
and who can't accept the possibility of having to return to a normal, boring life now their shelf life is expiring.
