New MP David Ward opened a new fitness centre at Eccleshill Swimming Pool in his constituency.

The Liberal Democrat MP for Bradford East was there at the official opening of the new facility which has been created in the former cafe area at the pool and contains cardio-vascular equipment and inter-active bikes that allow riders to view themselves racing.

He said: “This facility represents a great deal of hard work by local councillors to make sure that local people can have access to gym equipment to keep fit. I hope that it will become a very well used part of the complex by both adults and children.”

Liberal Democrat councillors from Eccleshill and Idle and Thackley have supported the project and Councillors Carol Beardmore and Jeanette Sunderland said they were pleased that the project was up and running.
