A worker has suffered a horrific hand injury at a timber yard.

The accident comes 15 months after a man was killed at the same yard owned by Ramsey Timber.

Today the Health and Safety Executive confirmed it was investigating the latest incident at the family-run firm in Wellington Street, Laister-dyke, Bradford.

The injured worker, Glen Brannan, of Copgrove Road, Holme Wood, had four fingers and a thumb on one hand sliced off when his hand became trapped in a machine.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being admitted to Bradford Royal Infirmary for specialist surgery.

Police were called to the company after the accident but ruled out any suspicious circumstances and passed the inquiry to the HSE.

An HSE spokesman said: "We have been notified about the accident and are investigating."

In February last year John Crossley, 52, was crushed to death at the timber yard while working on a stacking machine.

Mr Crossley, of Parsonage Road, Laisterdyke, was found trapped by a colleague who tried to revive him.

His family is still waiting for answers about the tragedy. They said they were horrified to hear there had been a further accident at the company.

Pat Crossley, Mr Crossley's sister-in-law, of West Bowling, Bradford, said: "I am shocked and absolutely appalled to hear someone else has been injured there.

"My heart goes out to the victim and his family.

"We are still waiting for the inquest into John's death.

"Hearing this news makes me feel like bursting into tears."

A spokesman for Bradford Coroner's office said a jury inquest into Mr Crossley's death was likely to be held next month or July.

Ramsey Timber would not comment on Mr Brannan's accident.
