New standards on tackling anti-social behaviour are to be agreed by Bradford Council, social landlord Incommunities and West Yorkshire Police.

They will set out the levels of service local residents can expect when they report rowdy neighbours, abusive or intimidating behaviour, verbal abuse, harassment, bullying, careless or inconsiderate driving, littering, dog fouling, vandalism or graffiti.

The organisations are promising to: 1) take swift and appropriate action against people committing anti-social behaviour and those breaching their anti-social behaviour orders 2) contact residents who report anti-social behaviour as soon as possible and keep victims regularly updated 3) support all victims and witnesses 4) involve residents in the process of addressing anti-social behaviour 5) work to improve residents’ quality of life and provide a better service 6) ensure anti-social behaviour reports are dealt with by the appropriate agency 7) work with communities to solve problems and deal with concerns.

Councillor Dale Smith, deputy leader of the Council, said: “Anti-social behaviour can have a huge impact on residents’ quality of life so it is an important priority for the Bradford District Safer Communities Partnership.

“Bradford Council and our partners have been working very hard to crack down on anti-social behaviour. However we are committed to doing everything we can to reduce it further.”

Chief Superintendent Alison Rose, chairman of Bradford District Safer Communities Partnership, said: “If you report anti-social behaviour, we will respond quickly, keep you informed of progress and involve you in solutions.”

Geraldine Howley, chief executive of Incommunities, said: “By working more closely together we can make a more positive difference and improve residents’ quality of life.”
