A 30-year-old woman has been spared an immediate jail term for attempted robbery.

Catherine O’Donnell dragged a woman to the ground by her hair and tried to steal her bag near the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford city centre.

O’Donnell, of Windsor Court, Little Horton, Bradford, admitted attempted robbery on May 16 this year.

Prosecutor Louise Azmi said O’Donnell had been remanded in custody since the middle of June for breaching a curfew order that was a condition of her bail. Mrs Azmi said O’Donnell asked her victim for 40p before attacking her from behind.

Judge Roger Ibbotson sentenced O’Donnell to 12 months’ imprisonment suspended for two years with an 18 months community order.
