A security guard escaped unharmed after an attempted armed robbery yesterday afternoon outside the Co-op in Clayton, Bradford.
The victim was depositing money at the store in Town End Road and had just got out of a security van when he was approached by a man brandishing a small, silver handgun.
Police said the suspect manhandled the security guard in an attempt to take the money he was carrying, but he resisted.
The robber then fled with a getaway driver in a small, blue car, which headed to Green End and along School Street.
A number of witnesses spoke to police at the scene but officers want to talk to anyone else who may have seen what happened or who saw the getaway vehicle prior to the incident, at about 12.30pm.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Constable Rob Hadaway at Airedale and North Bradford CID on 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
