The grieving parents of a woman murdered by her jealous partner have described how they weep daily for her.

Peter and Sandra Wilson, of Bradford, said they had been left “devastated” by the death of their “popular, beautiful” daughter Kirsty, 34.

Miss Wilson’s partner, martial arts expert Alan Jermey, 41, was yesterday found guilty by an Old Bailey jury of her murder last August after he learned she was leaving him for her married boss Simon Goddard.

Jermey, a car salesman with a black belt in kung fu, used his skills to throttle her, leaving few external injuries at their four- bedroom home in Woking, Surrey.

He set her body alight to try to make it look as though she had died in a fire but the blaze failed to take hold, the trial was told.

In a statement released after the guilty verdict, Mr and Mrs Wilson said their two young granddaughters their daughter had with Jermey were the real victims of his “horrendous” crime. They said: “We found it difficult to comprehend that Kirsty had been killed.

“We wanted to see her, to say goodbye for the last time, but the police advised against this due to the circumstances in which she had died.

“We have lost our only daughter Kirsty – a beautiful, vibrant young woman with the rest of her life ahead of her.

“She was the kind of woman who turned heads; she was kind, honest, had a wonderful sense of humour and was totally reliable.

“Kirsty enjoyed being around people, she was always bright and loved to chat, enjoying a joke with her many friends.

“Kirsty has left two beautiful daughters, many family members, many friends and Simon Goddard, her soulmate who she was going to spend the rest of her life with.

“Everyone who knew Kirsty thought the world of her and will miss her terribly. We will always miss Kirsty and we weep for her every day. Our grandchildren have been deprived of their mother for the rest of their lives. They are too young to understand why their mummy has left them and gone to heaven.

“They are the real victims of this tragedy. Their mother has been taken away from them because she fell in love with someone else.”

“Sadly relationships come to an end and people go their separate ways. For Kirsty to have her young life taken away in such appalling circumstances, merely because she wanted to be with someone else, is both unbelievable and unacceptable.

“We cannot understand why someone would want to commit such a horrendous crime.”

Also speaking after the verdict, Detective Inspector Paul Monk said: “Jermey was consumed with jealousy and rage. He violently murdered the mother of his children and set fire to her, hoping that their family home would go up in flames, and crudely covered up the killing.

Jermey was remanded in custody to Monday when he will receive a life sentence after the judge decides on the minimum term he should serve.
