Aspiring rock stars at two Bradford primary schools were able to strut their stuff at a competition.
Year six pupils at Springwood Primary School and Russell Hall Primary School played hits including I Love Rock N’ Roll and Smoke on the Water as well as tunes by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Blur and Amy Winehouse at the Battle of the Bands.
Bradford band the Oxtobys Rockers also played at the competition, which was held as part of Creative Arts Week. Music teacher Luke Harrison said: “It’s something different for the children, as not many of them listen to rock music at home.
“The kids are aspiring to be like the band that we brought in. It’s a great experience and everybody really enjoyed it.”
The children were introduced to playing rock music during workshops run by Bradford music services organisation You Play Music.
