They’re in the mood for dancing – in Bradford!

The Nolans are back together for their first tour in 25 years and tickets for their Bradford gig went on sale this week.

Sisters Coleen, Bernie, Linda and Maureen Nolan were topping the charts before Girls Aloud or the Sugababes were born and their hits have remained popular floor-fillers.

Now the Irish group, who are in their 40s and 50s, are showing it’s never too late for girl power, by celebrating the 30th anniversary of their biggest hit, I’m In The Mood for Dancing, with a new album and tour.

The I’m In The Mood tour will see them performing their feel-good anthems along with contemporary girl band hits, accompanied by a troupe of hunky male dancers.

The Nolans sold more than 25 million records and were particularly successful in Japan, selling more records than the Beatles there. Their hits included Attention to Me, Who’s Gonna Rock You, Don’t Make Waves and Gotta Pull Myself Together.

Two of the sisters have been regulars in Bradford over the past year, with Linda starring in Blood Brothers and Bernie in Flashdance at the Alhambra.

Linda said: “I never thought we’d tour again but I’m so thrilled that we are.

“It’s been a really tough few years for me, losing my husband and our mother, and surviving breast cancer, and my saviour has been my family. To be going back on the road again together is magical and exciting. See you all there!”

Youngest sister Coleen Nolan, a presenter on ITV’s Loose Women and a contestant on this year’s Dancing on Ice series, added: “It’s incredible to have the opportunity to get out there and perform live with the girls, something I never thought I’d get to do again.

“We’ve been waiting a long time for this and we’re pulling out all the stops. We’re working on a mix of girl anthems, our biggest hits, and a fabulous stage routine with some rather attractive male dancers who may just lose their shirts!” The Nolan family emigrated to Blackpool from Dublin in 1962. By the late 1970s the group had built a steady following and in 1979 came their hit I’m In The Mood For Dancing, followed by other top ten singles and albums.

* The Nolans are at St George’s Hall on Wednesday, October 21. Tickets are available on (01274) 432000.
