An unconscious woman was rescued by firefighters after a blaze broke out in her Bradford home.

An investigation has now been launched after flames ripped through the house in Boldshay Street in Barkerend last night.

The woman, who has not been named, was discovered lying unconscious inside the three-storey terraced home.

Two fire crews from Bradford and one from Idle attended the scene of the fire after a member of the public raised the alarm at 8.13pm yesterday.

They managed to get the woman out of the house.

She was unconscious but breathing and paramedics gave her oxygen.

The woman was then taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for further treatment.

The crews spent about two hours at the scene.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the fire had started on the ground floor of the back-to-back end terrace home.
