The district welcomed the Prince of Wales today, as he inspected the £12 million restoration of Eastbrook Hall, in Leeds Road, Little Germany, after performing the official opening ceremony.
Prince Charles encouraged his charity, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, to get involved in Little Germany’s regeneration after visiting the area in 2001, when the Grade II listed hall was in a derelict state.
The restoration has seen the former Methodist Cathedral of the North converted into apartments and commercial units.
During his visit to the district, Prince Charles also opened Cottingley Cornerstone, a £4.5 million community centre which has taken six years to create.
His association with the project goes back to 2002, when he attended a service to rededicate the vandalised war memorial at St Michael and All Angels Church.
