A 28-year-old Bradford man has been released on police bail after being questioned in connection with a hit and run incident in which a male pedestrian was critically injured in the centre of Leeds early on Saturday.

The injured man, aged 30, who lives in York, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary after he was struck by a Nissan Micra car on the flyover section of the inner ring-road near the former International Swimming Pool shortly after 6am.

The car, which failed to stop at the scene, was later found by police in the Armley area where an arrest was made. Any witnesses or anyone with any information should contact Holbeck CID on 0845 6060606.
