Plans go on public show

People will be given the chance to examine the £55 million New Victoria Place plans at a public exhibition next week.

The flagship scheme, led by developer Langtree Artisan, aims to transform the corner of Princes Way and Thornton Road in Bradford city centre – the site of the former Odeon cinema which closed in 2000.

Members of the public have the chance to meet the project team at the event in the Velasco Room at the Great Victoria Hotel, on Monday between 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

The exhibition will remain available for viewing at the Lanchester Room at the Great Victoria Hotel from Tuesday, September 30, until Friday, October 3, 10am to 5pm, and on Saturday, October 4, 10am to 4pm.

Martin Mellor, of Langtree Artisan, said: “The exhibition is a great opportunity for the people of Bradford to visualise what we’re trying to achieve at New Victoria Place.

“We hope as many visitors as possible will come and visit the exhibition.

“We’ve created a vibrant and ambitious scheme for current and future generations of Bradfordians.

“The project we will unveil at the event provides the city with a vibrant public space, the city’s first prime office accommodation, hotel, homes as well as a 21st century leisure destination.

“All the buildings will be complemented by imaginative landscaping designed to create a diverse range of public performance spaces and a central plaza with linked open spaces, providing an impressive gateway into the city.”

Langtree Artisan and Yorkshire Forward are due to submit a planning application for the development this autumn.

A website showing the plans goes live on Tuesday, September 30, at newvictoriaplace.com. For more information, call (0113) 2130300.
