Firefighters had to cut a horse free from railings today after two of its legs got stuck.
The incident happened at Melcombe Walk, off Broadstone Way in Holme Wood, Bradford, just after 4am.
Bradford fire station watch manager Harvey Stewart said one of the horse’s hooves had almost impaled itself on the top of one of the railings with another of its legs jammed in the lower part of the metal upright.
“It was on the floor and looked as though it had been there for some time,” he said.
“We managed to spread the railings but it didn’t get up until five of us hauled it by its head harness and managed to help it right itself.”
The RSPCA has been informed.
