BRADFORD District Credit Union has been awarded a £100,000 grant to allow more lending to be offered to even more local members.

The credit union provides savings and affordable loans to those living or working in the Bradford district and is based at City Hall.

Lloyds Banking Group has provided the grant, through the Credit Union Foundation.

Andrew Bowker, CEO of Bradford District Credit Union said: “It was great news to be informed we had been successful in achieving a grant. We will be able to continue and further improve our good work in assisting the financially excluded population within the district.

"Another major benefit will be giving the credit union the ability to improve and make our services more appealing to the younger element of the population within an expanded common bond area.”

Russell Galley of Lloyds said: “Credit unions play a crucial role in helping people access finance in a safe and responsible way. This support means that more consumers who need small loans have another lending option available to them."
