POLICE say they have recovered "a number of vehicles" believed to be linked to two incidents where cash machines were ripped from convenience stores.

Three such incidents happened over the weekend. Incidents involving stores on Thornton Road, Fairwether Green and Otley Road, Undercliffe have been linked by police.

And police in Leeds are investigating a third incident, at a McColls on Bradford Road, Pudsey, that happened at a similar time.

The incidents come just a few days after a Your Local store on Saffron Drive, Allerton, was wrecked when thieves used a vehicle to drag an ATM from the store.

Police have now issued a public appeal for information.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Bradford District CID is investigating two incidents where 4 x 4-type vehicles were used to cause damage to cash machines at convenience stores in Thornton Road and Otley Road.

“These occurred at around midnight and 1.30am yesterday.

“Officers have recovered a number of vehicles and items as part of this ongoing investigation and enquiries are continuing to identify suspects.

“Bradford District CID is also investigating an incident at a convenience store in Allerton last Tuesday night, where a 4 x 4-type vehicle was used in similar circumstances.

“Police are also aware of a similar incident in Pudsey, although this is not currently being linked to the investigation at Bradford and is being progressed by officers in Leeds.

“Anyone who has any information which may assist the investigation is urged to report it to Bradford District CID on 101.

“Information can also be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”

Police say four people, aged between 24 and 27, have been arrested in connection with the incident at the Allerton My Local store.

All four have been released under investigation.
