A NEW training programme to develop the skills of Muslim supplementary school teachers has been launched.

Bradford Council’s Diversity and Cohesion Service has teamed up with national organisation Strengthening Faith Institution and the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education for the programme, which will support the work of 45 teachers from madrassahs in the district.

It will give an overview of the English education system and explore how supplementary schools can contribute to a child’s development and will allow people to understand the roles and responsibilities of teachers and how they can support children’s welfare.

The course is aimed at madrassah teachers who want to obtain a new national vocational qualification – a level three certificate in teaching in the supplementary education sector.
