BOMB disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion on an unexploded bomb found near a Bradford street.
The shell was thought to be a World War Two mortar shell and had been found in Livingstone Road, Wrose, at around 1.45pm today.
X-rays were carried out to make sure it was not filled with mustard gas before experts secured a detonator to it.
The controlled explosion was carried out at just after 7pm on nearby shrubland, away from residential properties.
Firefighters from Shipley were sent to the scene to provide light for the bomb squad as it had got dark by the time the bomb was ready to be detonated.
A spokesman for the fire service said the experts took all the necessary precautions before carrying out the exercise.
"It made quite a bang," he said.
Police said the controlled explosion passed without incident.
