A BRADFORD school was put into "lock down" this afternoon following reports of a male wielding a gun outside.
A witness said someone was making threats to people outside Bradford Academy, in Teasdale Street, earlier today.
Multiple police were said to be on the scene, blocking the roads.
The parent of a child at the school said he knew nothing of the incident until he went to collect her.
"The school closes at 2pm on Friday and I went to pick my 12-year-old up at around one minute to 2pm.
"When I pressed the door buzzer it opened and staff asked me to climb over the counter.
"I walk with a stick and wondered what they were on about but they said there was someone outside with a gun and they wanted everyone to go into Cafe Mojo. I went in and found my daughter and we stayed there for about half an hour until it was all over," he said.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police attended Teasdale Street in Bradford at around 2pm today after receiving a report of a male with a gun.
"A 15-year-old male was arrested at the scene and enquiries are continuing."
A social media message from Bradford Academy read: "Thanks to students, parents and carers for your cooperation at the end of the day. The police have dealt with the issue and school will be open as normal on Monday."
