A SPELLBINDING display of more than 50 decorated Christmas trees are on show at St James’s Church in Thornton, Bradford, as part of its annual festival.

Each tree for the fourth Charity Christmas Tree Festival is being decorated by a different local group or charity in a wide variety of themes.

The event, co-ordinated by festival organiser Kevin Watt, will be officially opened on Thursday, November 23, by TV presenter Sally Simpson.

The church is fully illuminated to highlight the different trees and on Thursday and Friday the church is dedicated solely to visits by schools in the area with more than 1,000 children expected to go along to see the creations.

Last year more than 3,000 people went along to see the display which was described as “magical” and a “perfect way to start Christmas”.

The festival is open to the public from Saturday, November 25, to Saturday, December 2.

Check the church's website for confirmation of opening times and further details of the festival programme.
