TWO benefit gigs will be held this weekend to try to raise money to save a Bradford pub well known in the music scene from closure.

The concerts will take place at The Black Swan in Thornton Road and The Underground on Saturday.

The Black Saw held regular music nights until it closed unexpectedly on November 15.

Since then a concert was held last weekend to try to raise funds, and a CD has also been released online with all proceeds going towards the pub.

A crowdfunding site has also been set up aiming to raise £3,800.

The concert at the Black Swan on Saturday starts at 2pm, with the event at The Underground beginning at 6pm.

Landlord Ryan Farrell said the pub had to close due to financial issues.

He said: "Basically, people just haven't been coming in.

"I've been using my own money to pay the bills.

"The electricity bill came and it was something like £1,400.

"I've used all my money on this place and without the support of the people coming in, we've had to accept failure."

Organisers of the concerts have described the pub as "a fundamental part of Bradford's live music scene".
