CAMPAIGNERS fighting plans to axe a Bradford constituency will soon find out whether they have forced a re-think.

The Boundary Commission has been tasked with cutting the number of MPs from 650 to 600, and is due to publish revised proposals tomorrow.

It has already admitted that its plan to scrap the Parliamentary seat of Bradford South was one of its most controversial suggestions in Yorkshire and had sparked a host of objections.

Under the original proposal, Bradford South was to be divided between Halifax, Bradford West and a new Spen constituency.

But the prospect of seeing areas like Wyke, Tong and Wibsey, as well as landmarks like Bradford Bulls' home Odsal Stadium, move into non-Bradford constituencies prompted a campaign group to be set up, called Keep Bradford Bradford.

The Boundary Commission will reveal its revised proposals to MPs today and will publish them tomorrow, with a further public consultation planned.

Final recommendations will then be put to Parliament next year.

However, some commentators have expressed doubts that Prime Minister Theresa May can push through the changes at all, after losing her Parliamentary majority in the snap election.
