When the current owners purchased this home two years ago it was in urgent need of some tlc, But that didn’t put them off at all. “It was just what we were looking for.”

The house was built in 1968 by Alfred Robinson Estates, Idle for the sum of £5,500.

“We fell for the house for a number of reasons. It is situated in a desirable, peaceful location with a stunning outlook and it was in need of serious updating - in fact it needed a full refurbishment and renovation programme which is exactly what I was looking for.

“The best feature of the house was the new roof that had recently been replaced.”

The list of the subsequent work is almost endless, resulting in virtually a brand new house.

The whole interior was given a full strip out including all walls and ceilings.

“Only the outside walls were left remaining.”

Because of the new layout new openings had to be made for an A rated UPVC grey doors and windows.

Walls were replastered, rooms rewired, inset gas fire installed together with central heating / boiler.

Then it was a new kitchen, bathroom, internal walnut doors that match the flooring that runs throughout the property were put in.

“The end result of all this hard work was the creation of a complete new energy efficient modern home which includes desirable features such as an open plan kitchen / living area, ensuite bathroom, four piece bathroom, utility room and separate WC.

This three bedroom detached bungalow offers beautifully presented living accommodation standing in good sized well maintained gardens.

The accommodation briefly comprises reception hall way, cloaks cupboards, spacious open plan lounge with dining area and kitchen, range of quality base and wall units with integrated appliances, utility room with WC, master bedroom with en-suite shower room, two further bedrooms and house bathroom.

It wasn’t just the inside that received attention. Externally the house was re-rendered in through coloured render, complimented by Canadian cedar cladding.

Gardens were landscaped on three sides, and a new garage and driveway were constructed.

“Lots of natural light floods the house which is full of attractive features such as remote control blinds to the kitchen and living area while French doors lead out onto garden decking.

“Fully integrated appliances in the breakfast bar area and a ceiling raft in the kitchen with concealed LED colour changing lighting.

“Our favourite space is the living area - it is a great space for entertaining and leads directly into the rear garden which is a fantastic peaceful suntrap.

“Like the house the garden had seen better days with overgrown ivy and a ramshackle garage so it was dug out and stripped back. A new raised deck and lawn was introduced with raised beds made out of sleepers and lighting installed.

“The old garage was demolished and a new base and garage erected in its place, clad in cedar to match the house.”

“Having had to stay in a rented property whilst undertaking all of the work myself it was a nice feeling after 10 months when all the work was finished to move in with my family to a beautiful home.

“Now we will miss the friendly neighbourhood and prestigious location but I am looking forward to taking on a new project.”
