A BRADFORD postwoman has achieved her goal of completing 26 marathons in 26 days in a bid to raise £60,000 to fund treatment for her severely ill friend.

Kelly Williams, 40, who lives in Wilsden, wants to fund stem cell treatment for her friend Sol, who lives in Argentina but was bitten by a tick during a holiday to the UK in 2012 and now suffers from chronic Lyme Disease.

She has used her gruelling task to start a wider campaign called ‘Spread a Little Sunshine’, designed to encourage people to use acts of kindness to “inspire change and make a real difference” to people’s lives.

Speaking after finishing her final marathon in Saltaire today, Ms Williams said: “The support I’ve had has been amazing, and this has been my act of kindness to start the campaign. We hope Spread a Little Sunshine will continue to grow and grow, a bit like the ice bucket challenge did.

“We have raised around £12,000 so far, but money is coming in for everywhere and we’ll keep going until we get that £60,000 for Sol.”
