POLICE have released images of 12 men they are seeking to trace in connection with the pitch invasion that marred Bradford City's League One Play-Off Final against Millwall at Wembley in May.

Following the final whistle of the game, which Millwall won 1-0, hundreds of Lions fans entered the field, with some goading the Bantams’ players and manager Stuart McCall, who claimed he was close to physically confronting them.

After the match, the Metropolitan Police said the "vast majority" of fans who invaded the pitch had left of their own accord, but confirmed that a "post-event investigation was underway to identify those who illegally entered the playing surface."

Today, detectives from the Met’s Central Football Unit and Public Order Command released pictures of 12 men they want to identify.

A Met spokesman said: "Following the final whistle, a large number of fans from the Millwall section ran onto the field of play.

"Some of those fans ran directly to the Bradford City half of the pitch and began to taunt the opposing team’s players and fans."

Detective Sergeant Neil Gunn, whose team is leading the investigation, added: “We would like to speak to those pictured in connection with offences including incursion onto the pitch, and possible offences under the Public Order Act.

“Anyone who is able to identify any of those pictured is asked to contact the investigation team directly on 020 8246 9388.”
