Supporters are flying in from USA, Canada, the Middle East, Spain and Ireland for the Bantams’ League One clash with Millwall at Wembley.

The club confirmed almost 24,000 City fans are expected to invade London.

One of those supporters is Steve Walker, 49, who has travelled from Washington DC. He arrived on Thursday morning and is staying with relatives in West Bowling during his week-long trip.

He is originally from Ohio and is a retired senior chief in the US Navy.

He married his wife Maureen, who is from Bradford, in 1995 and says he became hooked by City when he attended a match at Valley Parade in 1996.

Mr Walker, who now works as a project manager, said: “Every time we plan to come over I have to go to a City match.

“Maureen has not come over with me for this trip.

“I follow the Bradford City matches on the Telegraph & Argus’ blog.

“When we come over to Bradford, we can’t come in the summertime as there are no City matches.

“I wore City tops when I was in the Navy. I wore them on trips to places including Hawaii, Hong Kong and Thailand. I even wore one when I climbed Mount Fuji.

“I’m nervous already about today’s match. I think we will win 2-1 and Charlie Wyke will score.

“I just hope we don’t go down in the first two minutes because of nerves. But I could also see it go to penalty kicks.”

Fellow fan David Lightowler, 55, has travelled to the match from his home in Canada after his girlfriend, Linda Kenny, organised his trip.

She set up a detailed itinerary for his trip, which saw him arrived in the UK on Thursday, will watch the match and fly back on Sunday.

He has lived in Whitby, east of Toronto, for the past 11 years and grew up on Holmewood and later lived in Lidget Green.

Mr Lightowler said: “I have supported City all of my life, through the years of the old Division Four. I was present at the Lincoln City game when the stadium fire happened.

“I had great times during the Premiership years and I did come back here to watch them in the 2013 League Cup Final against Swansea City.”

Meanwhile, Frank Talbot, 72, who lives in CaboRoig, Southern Costa Blanca, Spain, will be going to the final with his wife, son, granddaughter and his friends. Mr Talbot had previously lived in Wyke.

He said: “My dad took me to my first match when I was six.

“I still have season ticket and see probably 50 per cent of home games.

“I have converted many of our Spanish friends to be City fans ahead of the usual Premier League clubs. Family and friends all going to the match, 14 in all. I think Bradford City will win 3-1.”

Matty Walton, 26, originally from Keighley, has flown in from his home in Qatar for the match.

The lifelong Bantam moved to the Middle East two years ago and will be meeting his two brothers and friends at Wembley.

Meanwhile, Geraldine Dunne says her son is travelling from Ireland to watch today’s showpiece.

She said: “My son often travels to Bradford to see his beloved Bradford City from his home in Tipperary, had a season ticket since he was little and living in Bradford.

“He tells me he will never forget his first trip to Wembley in the 90s.

“He booked his flight over for the Wembley clash weeks ago, that’s confidence for you.

“He even has his own room at my daughter’s house booked for matches.

“My grandson Hayden McMahon, seven, is going to Wembley for the first time, he will be wearing his 29 McMahon shirt.

“It’s a family affair, even my daughter is going.”
