A HOST of activities is planned for when the third stage of the Tour de Yorkshire gets under way in Bradford.

The cycle race begins its final day, on April 30, in City Park before heading out around the Bradford district on the way to the race finish in Sheffield.

At City Park, celebrations will include a circus, theatre and music, a magical penny farthing experience, Dhol drummers and a pop-up cycling museum.

Regional tourism bosses hope people will turn out in numbers to enjoy the entertainment as well as the race itself.

Sir Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: "The Tour is about so much more than the race – it's about bringing people and communities together and we'd encourage everyone heading out to watch the race to embrace all the other fantastic activities taking place over the weekend."

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's executive member for environment, sport and culture, said: "We are so proud Bradford has been chosen as the start for Stage Three of this year's race and that the route will go through so many wonderful parts of our district."
