A NUMBER of protests against how the NHS is funded were held across the Bradford district.

Labour Party members and Bradford residents were out on the streets making their voices heard in support of the NHS.

Events were held on Saturday including in Bradford city centre, Thornton, Allerton, Sandy Lane, Heaton, Wibsey and Buttershaw.

Councillor Richard Dunbar (Lab, Thornton and Allerton) said new research from the Labour Party Health Team had said the NHS was in crisis yet the Government did not have a plan to ensure hospitals had the resources they needed.

The number of people on the waiting list in England was now estimated to be around 3.9 million.

Cllr Dunbar said: “Thousands of people here in Bradford rely on the NHS. But we face longer waiting times and overcrowded hospitals. The NHS is underfunded and understaffed. Patients in Bradford shouldn’t have to wait longer to see their GP.”
