PLANS to turn a long empty warehouse into an ice cream factory and shop have been refused by Bradford Council because they are too vague.
The proposed development, by G Bussan, would have seen 95 Thornton Road, behind the Odeon building, converted into an ice cream parlour and manufacturing unit.
Planners said there was a danger the building, the bulk of which has been empty for at least 12 years, may fall into further disrepair if it remained empty and that it was “desirable to bring this very prominent building into beneficial use.”
But despite the benefits of the plans, they added: “The submitted details are too sketchy, inaccurately represented and insufficiently detailed to enable a proper evaluation, particularly given the potential implications for heritage assets.”
