POLICE in Bradford have condemned "mindless" vandals who smashed the windows of emergency vehicles earlier this evening.

Two police vans were damaged in the Manningham area of the city while officers were out on calls.

Officers from the Bradford West Neighbourhood Policing Team took to social media to voice their anger.

The team said on its Facebook page: "Two emergency police vans have had their windscreens smashed this evening in the Manningham area whilst officers have been on calls. Two emergency vehicles that are now off the road unable to be used to answer 999 calls, to help our communities and keep people safe. #Mindlessvandalism."

PC J Whiteley added on Twitter: "Return from a job to find my van's windscreen smashed! This is the second police vehicle in two hours to have windows smashed."
