FIREFIGHTERS today tackled a blaze at a former school in Keighley that was targeted by arsonists two months ago.

Crews from Keighley, Bingley and Shipley stations were called to Branshaw School, Nashville Street, at 3.50am.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire fire service said a 40-metre by 60-metre building was 100 per cent ablaze when crews arrived on scene. The fire did not spread elsewhere and no-one was injured, said the spokesman.

The building was in the process of being demolished, and the spokesman said the demolition company had been contacted to get the building brought down as soon as possible.

In October, the former special school - which closed in April 2010 - was hit by arsonists. Keighley West councillor Brian Morris said the school "had been left to go to wrack and ruin".
