GIANT light sculptures and marching drummers are some of the highlights of an action-packed autumn and winter programme of activities at City Park.

Forest of Light will see 59 gigantic light sculptures beaming shades of red, green, orange and gold reflecting in the site’s Mirror Pool.

The show has been specifically designed for Bradford’s award-winning public space by French master light artists T.I.L.T. They brought their illuminated sculpture show, Garden of Light, to Centenary Square in 2012.

It will also feature huge wild thistles bursting into life like exploding fireworks, as beautiful red-tipped reeds wave gently in the breeze.

Enormous red flowers will break into bloom and giant vertical shards of golden light rain down from enormous illuminated fronds.

The event will be held every day between Thursday, October 6, and Sunday, October 9, from dusk until 10pm.

Meanwhile, Bradford’s Christmas Lights Spectacular will be held at City Park on Saturday, November 19, between 5pm and 6pm.

This year’s festive switch-on will feature high-energy street theatre and dance, pyrotechnics and fireworks.

World-renowned British circus production company Cirque Bijou will bring their Fire and Light Energy Dance shows to the city centre.

The show will include pyrotechnic effects, spectacular fire performances and cutting-edge lighting technology and street dance.

Theatre company Spark! will entertain the crowds with their marching drummers act featuring musical arrangements, dazzling costumes, lighting design and choreography.

External Combustion will wow the crowds with pyrotechnics and fireworks.

Children’s choirs will also entertain the crowds with festive carols. Entrance to both events is free.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder for regeneration, planning and transport, said: “Forest of Light and the Christmas Lights Spectacular are going to be incredible.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing them.”
