PROLIFIC fundraiser Jamie Boyle has been nominated for this year’s Community Stars Awards.

The 37-year-old, of Low Moor, who has raised thousands of pounds for the Bradford Burns Unit and is due to tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks for his next charity challenge this weekend, has been nominated in the fundraiser category to pick up a community-style Oscar when the winners are announced in December.

Conquering the Three Peaks will be in aid of Heartbeat for Sport using money he raises towards buying defibrillators and training people in the use of them.

Mr Boyle has also recently raised £585 for Macmillan by cycling 515 miles around Yorkshire and earlier in the year he raised more than £10,000 for the Bradford Burns Unit.

Mr Boyle was nominated for the Community Stars Award by former Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Joanne Dodds.

She said: “I have known Jamie for a number of years, we volunteered together at Bradford Street Angels.

"He has a lovely nature, such a genuine person, with a big heart who will do anything for anyone.

"Jamie has a blood disorder and needs treatment regularly at St James. This has never stopped him from throwing himself into some unusual challenges.”

Mr Boyle said: “Being diagnosed with this blood disorder could have gone either way but it was a kick up the backside.

"It took me a bit of time to get my head round it then I thought I could just sit about or get on with it and do things to help other people.

"I think every body should give some thing back to the community. A little help or support does a world of good."

The Community Stars Awards are organised by the Telegraph & Argus and Bradford Council in a bid to ensure unsung heroes across the district are properly rewarded.
