FROLICKING fairies and a seaside stop off in a busy town centre are just some of the events taking place around the Bradford district this weekend.

From tomorrow until Monday, the town centre of Keighley will be transformed into a seaside resort, with lots of activities for families to get enjoy.

At Keighley-on-sea, there will be a fully-functioning sandy beach in the Airedale Centre, and lots of activities in Church Green.

They will include donkey rides, Punch and Judy shows, beach huts, and lots of fun and games for people to take part in, with the event starting at 10am each day.

Tomorrow, the third annual free street party will come to North Parade in Bradford city centre, from noon to 7pm, with live music and a selection of locally produced food and drink.

The Cottingley Fairy Festival will also return tomorrow at the Cottingley Recreation Ground in Manor Road.

There will be various magical activities such as a fairy parade, dog show, and live entertainment at the event, which runs from noon to 6pm.

Local thespians will take to the bandstand stage in Saltaire’s Roberts Park tomorrow, with free performances at 2pm and 7pm of the classic Shakespeare play, Much Ado About Nothing.

Cooper House care home, in Cooper Lane, Bradford, will be holding a summer fair tomorrow, with live entertainment and stalls selling crafts made by residents, many of whom have dementia.

The fair will be open from noon to 4pm, with a fire engine display at 2pm.

Bradford Brewery will be celebrating Yorkshire Day - which falls on Monday, August 1, tomorrow with a charity event.

There will be live music from local artists from noon to 2am at the free event at the brewery in Rawson Road.

Also on Saturday, a free walk to celebrate the birthday of Emily Bronte, will be taking place in Haworth.

Walkers should meet at the Bronte Parsonage Museum in Church Street at 2pm, before walking up Penistone Hill for a talk about the life of Emily Bronte.

On Sunday, Silsden Gala will be taking place in the village from 1pm to 4pm, starting with a procession through the village toward Silsden Park for an afternoon of events.

Oakwell Hall Country Park, in Nutter Lane, Birstall, will be celebrating Yorkshire Day on Sunday from 11am to 4pm with a day of activities, live music, and demonstrations.

Admission costs £2 for adults and £1 for children, with free parking on site.
