A BRADFORD woman has raised more than £200 in aid of Marie Curie by holding a charity cake sale.

Melanie Perrett organised a coffee and cake sale at The Village Salon in Oakenshaw in memory of her husband, Dave Perrett, who died from a brain tumour in February this year.

He was cared for by nurses from Marie Curie during his illness and Mrs Perrett decided to hold the fundraising tea party to help the charity continue to provide vital care.

Mrs Perrett said: "To say we organised the event in two weeks, it went very well and raised £204.79, which will provide more than ten hours of care.

"We are now going to be holding the event annually for Dave, and I'm planning to do more fundraising before then.

"I will be supplying cakes for the police at one of their team building days which is coming up to raise money for Marie Curie, so I will be baking like mad!"

Mrs Perrett has also set up a website called Music4Charity to raise further money for Marie Curie as music was one of her husband's biggest passions.
