OWNERS of Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda vehicles have been advised by West Yorkshire Police to secure the integrated satellite navigation systems in their vehicles following a surge in thefts.

A Force spokesman said: "Criminals are specifically targetting the VW Group RNS 310 and RNS 510 systems and a security device called an 'RNS Navi Lock' can be purchased to prevent criminals stealing your VW Group satellite navigation system.

"The device is simply a metal plate which goes over the system and has a lockable key to secure it. West Yorkshire Police would advise to purchase such device from a reputable retailer as we cannot advise to purchase it from any specific retailer.

"West Yorkshire Police would strongly advise making your vehicle as secure as possible, spending a little time and money on security is better than replacing very expensive items such as integrated satellite navigation systems."
