AN INCIDENT involving a man who was spotted wielding a bladed weapon in a Bradford street led to police arresting another man for breaching his bail conditions.

Officers received reports yesterday of a man brandishing either a machete or a sword in the Bierley area, before he fled the scene in a car.

Subsequent enquiries led the officers to the car and a property in Bradford, where they discovered the wanted local man today.

The initial search on Saturday, sparked by the bladed weapon reports, involved the police helicopter, armed officers, and dogs from the force.

One man said he saw the helicopter at about 10am, before spotting officers in Bierley Woods later in the day. He also said he saw police officers with dogs on Bierley Lane in the early evening.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the arrested man was not involved in the machete incident, and added: “He was arrested as a result of enquiries following the incident in Bierley.
