THE University of Bradford has risen 20 places in the latest Guardian University league table, one of the biggest rises from a university in the UK.

The university, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, jumped from 72 in the 2016 list to 52 in the latest ranking, published yesterday.

And six subjects are ranked in the top 20 with Chemical Engineering (5) and Nursing and Midwifery (6) in the top 10.

Other courses that ranked highly were Film and Media Studies, (13), Forensic Science and Archaeology, (15), Civil Engineering, (16), and Chemistry (18).

The Guardian’s league tables ranks universities according to spending per student, the student/staff ratio, graduate career prospect. what grades applicants need to get a place, a value-added score that compares students’ entry qualifications with their final degree results; and how satisfied final-year students are with their courses.

Last month it was announced that the university had risen 10 places, from 63, to 53 this year in a similar ranking, compiled by TheCompleteUniversityGuide co.uk.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Brian Cantor, said: “The University of Bradford is rightly proud of the quality of courses we teach, the experience we offer to our students and the knowledge and skills we give to our graduates to go out and make an impact in the world.

“To enjoy one of the biggest rises in The Guardian league table reflects the outstanding work we do and is yet another major achievement in our anniversary year.”
